UniCare Health Plans Available to Medicaid, CHIP Population in Dallas Service Area1 August 2006
UniCare Health Plans of Texas, Inc. (UniCare) today announced that it is available to eligible recipients of the state's Medicaid program, State of Texas Access Reform (STAR) and the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) in Dallas, Collin, Ellis, Hunt, Kaufman, Navarro, and Rockwall counties during the state's open enrollment/conversion period that began July 1, 2006. Enrolled members can begin receiving health care benefits from UniCare on September 1, 2006. Enrolled members will have access to a medical home and coordinated care that includes hospital services, physicians, specialists, prescriptions, vision, and behavioral health. Last year, the Texas Health and Human Services Commission awarded UniCare a contract to provide health care benefits to STAR (Medicaid) and CHIP members in the Dallas Service Area. UniCare is one of three managed care plans to provide services in this service area with approximately 260,000 eligible beneficiaries beginning September 1, 2006.
