Thomson reaches agreement with Tri-Vision for past V-chip patent infringement

9 September 2005

Tri-Vision International Ltd./Ltée (TSX: TVL)
today announced that agreement has been reached with Thomson Inc. of the
United States, Thomson Multimedia Limited of Canada and Thomson Multimedia SA
of France on the infringement lawsuit involving Canadian Patent No. 2,179,474
for the period up to August 1, 2004.
Tri-Vision has received monetary compensation for RCA branded televisions
produced for sale in Canada prior to August 1, 2004. Tri-Vision's legal
litigation firm Lerners LLP will end legal action against the Thomson
companies.
RCA branded televisions manufactured for sale in Canada after August 1,
2004 are the responsibility of TTE Corporation, a company formed as a joint
venture between Thomson and TCL International Holdings Limited of Hong Kong.
Tri-Vision is now in licensing discussions with the joint venture company TTE
Corporation.
Tri-Vision has the sole rights to U.S. Patent No. 5,828,402 and Canadian
Patent No. 2,179,474. Companies which have acquired one or both licenses
include: Sony, Hitachi, Sanyo, Philips, JVC, Matsushita, Sharp, Pioneer, Apex
Digital, Samsung, LG Electronics, Funai, Orion, Toshiba, Eastern Asia, Erae
Electronics, Seiko Epson, Newlane, Astar, Xiamen and others.

to ensure that the V-chip can be modified in digital television receiver
products with or without associated display. Tri-Vision's open V-chip is the
only known, patented technology capable of accepting modified or new rating
systems. The FCC rules require that all digital television receiver products
include open V-chip by March 15, 2006. The Consumer Electronics Association
estimates that over 27,000,000 digital television sets will be sold in the
United States in 2008.

About Tri-Vision: Tri-Vision licenses its patented V-chip globally. It
also markets Data Video Distribution System, Secure Pay TV, Addressable Pay TV
(pay per view), Hotel Pay TV and Cable TV equipment worldwide. Tri-Vision
state-of-the-art systems can be customized to meet specific needs.
Tri-Vision International Ltd./Ltée is a public company founded in 1986.
