Texas Instruments and Avnet Electronics Marketing Present Live Analog eLab Webcast on Optimizing Low-Power System Designs

31 March 2006

Texas Instruments Incorporated (NYSE: TXN) (TI) and Avnet Electronics Marketing, a division of Avnet, Inc. (NYSE: AVT) will present a live Analog eLab Webcast for designers entitled "Optimizing Power in Low-Power Wireless Systems" on Wednesday, April 12, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. CST (18:00 hrs CET). In the online discussion, TI analog expert Bill Klein, P.E. and eLab panelists, Karl Torvmark of TI and Sarah St. John of Avnet Electronics Marketing, will address power consumption considerations in analog designs. Engineers are invited to register for the one-hour session at http://www.ti.com/analogelab .

During the Webcast, panelists will discuss key power constraints designers must consider for most low-power wireless product designs. Some of the power consumption issues include system design, protocol design and the selection of power sources. The eLab engineers will also talk about trade-offs between component cost, component count and battery life and offer advice on creating successful designs.

During the lab segment, Klein and Torvmark will demonstrate a practical way to measure power consumption in a polling system. The engineers will take power measurements from a wireless mouse and describe how to estimate power consumption and accurately approximate battery life. They will correlate this to estimating consumption for complex systems that incorporate different power modes.
