SEMICON West 2006 Set for July 10-14 in San Francisco22 March 2006
SEMICON West, the world's most comprehensive event devoted to the global supply chain for semiconductor and related microelectronics manufacturing, will be held the week of July 10-14, 2006 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco. Visitor registration is available at http://www.semi.org/semiconwest. Expanding on the success of the 2005 event, and in response to visitor and exhibitor input, SEMICON West 2006 will feature four new technology-focused exhibit areas called the TechXPOTs ("tech spots"). These TechXPOTs are "shows- within-the-show" that feature a combination of exhibits, live technical content, displays and presentations by winners of the Technology Innovation Showcase, and special interactive displays. The four TechXPOTs locations are: -- Emerging Technologies (nanotechnology, MEMS and energy applications): West Hall, Level 3 -- Test, Assembly & Packaging: West Hall, Level 2 -- Manufacturing Productivity & Effectiveness (EDA, DFM, e-manufacturing): Esplanade Hall -- Challenges in Device Scaling to 45 and 32 nm: North Hall Also new for 2006 will be a "matchmaking" service for visitors called SEMICONNECT. This online service automatically searches the SEMICON West community of exhibitors, products, programs and people, and delivers personalized justification reports and show plans based on each visitor's self-defined profile. The exhibitor component of the system (called SmartBooth(TM)) allows exhibiting companies to search the visitor database for attendees who match their lead profile and interact with those contacts online before, during and after the show. "SEMICON West has been the industry's flagship show for more than 35 years, however we feel that it is paramount for us to continue to bring in new features and new services to expand the overall value of the show and to meet the changing needs of our visitors and exhibitors," said Vicki Hadfield, president of SEMI North America. Another "new" feature is one borrowed from the early days of SEMICON West: The SEMICON West, Beer Hall, located on West Hall Level 3, is a casual networking venue, providing visitors and exhibitors a place to meet colleagues, friends and business partners in a festive environment. "People have commented that SEMICON West needed more 'fun' and was missing the atmosphere of the days the show was in San Mateo," Hadfield says. "The fact is, the beer garden of the San Mateo days was a place where real business got done. The new beer hall is intended to bring back that spirit and allow our visitors and exhibitors that chance to have fun while strategizing over business deals and technology development." SEMICON West will feature more than 1500 exhibiting companies from 25 countries, showcasing the latest developments in semiconductor and related microelectronics manufacturing equipment, materials and services. The exposition will offer an extensive schedule of programs and events to facilitate increased networking and collaboration within the global semiconductor community. In 2005, more than 40,000 people registered for the show, making it the largest microelectronics technology exposition in North America. Further information and a comprehensive agenda will be published in late March.
