Photronics Acquires Additional Shares of PKL Ltd. in Korea22 January 2005
Photronics, Inc. (Nasdaq: PLAB - News), a worldwide leader in supplying innovative imaging technology solutions for the global electronics industry, today reported that it has acquired an additional 6.5% interest in PKL Co., Ltd. in Korea (Kosdaq: PKL - News). As a result of this transaction, the Company now owns approximately 87% of PKL. Photronics acquired the additional equity in PKL, Korea's leading independent photomask manufacturer, from existing PKL shareholders in exchange for cash consideration of approximately $18.0 million. Additional financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Photronics is a leading worldwide manufacturer of photomasks. Photomasks are high precision quartz plates that contain microscopic images of electronic circuits. A key element in the manufacture of semiconductors, photomasks are used to transfer circuit patterns onto semiconductor wafers during the fabrication of integrated circuits.
