NCEITA Announces New Board Leadership for 200525 January 2005
The North Carolina Electronics and Information Technologies Association (NCEITA) used its annual meeting as a platform for unveiling its executive officers and bold agenda for 2005. As the primary voice of the information technology industry in North Carolina, NCEITA will focus its efforts on education and competitiveness this year.
NCEITA began their Annual Meeting by recognizing the efforts of six distinguished public servants for their work with NCEITA and for their assistance in securing $1 million for rural and underserved elementary schools. Senators Elizabeth Dole and John Edwards, along with Congressmen Howard Coble, Bob Etheridge, Mike McIntyre and Charles Taylor were thanked for their dedication to NCEITA's technology demonstration projects, which allow the Association to fully implement the technology plans of rural and technologically under funded elementary schools in North Carolina.
NCEITA also appointed seven new board members for three year terms, including Chuck Beam, Duke Energy; Harvey Braswell, ACS Inc.; Craig A. Fowler, Corning Cable Systems; Charlene Grunwaldt, Triangle Business Journal; Linda Markus Daniels, Daniels Daniels & Verdonik, P.A.; Tom Rabon, Red Hat, Inc.; and Janet C. Wylie, Engineous Software.
The board of directors also approved the slate of officers for 2005, including Joe Freddoso, chairman; Steve Parrott, immediate past chairperson; Janet Wylie, vice chairman, Jeff Barber, treasurer; Mike McGuire, secretary; Randy Fraser, vice president of security/homeland; Herb Crenshaw, vice president of public affairs/economic development; David Jones, vice president of member retention/member recruitment; Darleen Johns, vice president of knowledge workforce; Larry Robbins, vice president of business strategy and capitalization; Rusine Mitchell-Sinclair, vice president, at large; Charlene Grunwaldt, vice president, at large; and Dede Ramoneda, vice president, at large.
NCEITA chairman Freddoso was very positive about the IT industry's future, stating, "The year 2005 will allow great opportunities to form a foundation for the economic vitality of the technology industry in North Carolina with focuses on education and job creation. NCEITA will continue its premier leadership role in representing the technologies industry in the state."
General Henry Hugh Shelton, 14th Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff for the United States Armed Forces, provided the keynote for the 2005 meeting, addressing the changing nature of technology which has led to advancements in prosecuting and waging war. General Shelton also addressed the importance of ethically based leadership and corporate values, stating, "Leaders provide vision and focus for their organization while simultaneously setting the organizational climate. Values-based leaders are individuals of character and integrity who are honest, compassionate and recognize that the people who make up the organization are key to their success."
