MagnaChip Semiconductor to Host First Annual Technology Symposium in Beijing16 March 2006
MagnaChip Semiconductor, a leading specialty foundry service provider, today announced that it will hold a technology symposium in Beijing, on Thursday, March 16th. Attendees will include IC design houses, customers and technology partners from China. The symposium will provide attendees with a better understanding of MagnaChip's foundry services and distinctive specialty process technologies. MagnaChip will present its specialty technology roadmap and design services covering a broad range of high voltage, power using Modular BCD and Trench DMOS, embedded memory, mixed-signal and RF technology. Mr. Channy Lee, Executive Vice President and General Manager of MagnaChip's Semiconductor Manufacturing Service Division, commented, "According to IC Insights, China-based IC production was about US $2.6 billion in 2005 and China-based IC production is expected to rise to US $12.1 billion in 2010 (a 36% 2005-2010 CAGR). China is evolving into a major IC center given its dominant economy, continued growth and extensive development facilities. As China's engineering resources have expanded, the market has given birth to numerous leading IC design houses. Greater China has been a very important geographic market to MagnaChip, with approximately 10% of our revenue coming from this region in 2005. We expect this percentage will continue to grow based on growth forecasts for the overall China market, expected customer program ramps, and new customer wins. Events, such as this technology symposium, are a great platform to further raise awareness of MagnaChip's capabilities and technology leadership as we partner with companies across China to achieve mutual successes."
