Kinpo Electronics Improves Communications for 10,000 Employees, Reduces Costs with Nortel Solutions7 June 2005
The new network will enable voice over IP ( VoIP ) and real-time multimedia collaboration applications designed to help Kinpo employees enhance productivity by giving them broadband remote access from outside the office.
The dedicated, converged network now links Kinpo's head office and research and development facility in Taipei with software development centers in Shanghai and Beijing, mass production campus facilities in Dongguan, and manufacturing support operations in Thailand. The network combines separate voice and data functions onto one system, reducing costs and making it possible for employees to access corporate communication services anytime, regardless of location.
"We required a backbone network capable of supporting our long-term operations and guaranteeing reliability, as well as flexibility to handle advanced applications and future services," said Wen-han Hsu, chief information officer, Kinpo Electronics. "Nortel's solution has also enabled our management and staff to make secure voice calls using VoIP to any Kinpo location via our corporate intranet, as well as providing the administrative and supply chain efficiencies that are critical to customers in their assessment and selection of a manufacturer such as Kinpo."
"The ability to lower costs while increasing productivity is fundamental to Nortel's converged networking solutions for today's enterprises and multinational companies," said Jackson Wu, managing director, Taiwan, Nortel. "We are committed to providing customers with intelligent and flexible communication systems that can ignite and power commerce, protect critical business information, and enhance the human experience for their employees."
