KeyEye Joins Newly Formed Ethernet Alliance30 March 2006
KeyEye Communications, Inc., a leading provider of 10 gigabit-per-second copper media transceivers, today announced that it is a Participating Member of the Ethernet Alliance, an industry group dedicated to the continued success and expansion of Ethernet technology. KeyEye will work with Ethernet Alliance member companies to help accelerate the industry adoption of 10 Gigabit Ethernet networking by providing cost-effective structured copper cabling solutions for data centers. This will result in faster transaction rates, higher data throughput, and quicker application response times. KeyEye brings to the Ethernet Alliance its expertise in developing single chip transceivers that deliver 10 Gigabit Ethernet speeds using commonly available structured copper cabling. This approach yields dramatic cost and power savings for data centers. "KeyEye has joined the Ethernet Alliance to advance 10 Gigabit Ethernet communications over low-cost copper cabling," noted Harvey Scull, KeyEye President and CEO. "In addition to focusing on industry education, we plan to set up demonstrations with other member companies to establish the viability of 10 Gigabit Ethernet communications over copper for high-density, low-latency, and low-power applications." KeyEye joins the founding members of the Ethernet Alliance, which include 3Com, ADC, Agere Systems, AMCC, Aquantia, Broadcom, Force10 Networks, Foundry Networks, Intel, Lawrence Berkeley Labs, Pioneer Corporation, Quake Technologies, Samsung, Sun Microsystems, Tehuti Networks, Tyco Electronics, The University of New Hampshire InterOperability Laboratory (UNH-IOL), and Xilinx. About the Ethernet Alliance The Ethernet Alliance was created to promote industry awareness, acceptance and advancement of technology and products based on existing and emerging IEEE 802 Ethernet standards. The organization accelerates industry adoption and removes barriers to market entry by providing a cohesive, market responsive, industry voice on IEEE 802 Ethernet projects.
