Innovative Staylit Holiday Lights Use New Technology For 'Always On' Effect

21 August 2005

It's a holiday hazard that has happened to almost everyone at one time or another -- a string of holiday lights lies lifeless because one elusive, mysterious bulb in the strand is defective.

Now a technologically advanced product called Staylit light strings from NOMA/Inliten, LLC are changing that with a strand of lights that burns bright no matter what happens to the bulbs.

The hallmarks of the Staylit line are reliability and safety. Like many other holiday lights, an individual bulb on the Staylit strand may burn out from time to time, but the rest of the string will remain lit. What sets them apart is that inside every light socket is a tiny microchip that acts as a "silent sentry" to keep the overall light string operating. When all the bulbs in the string are operating properly, the chip isn't engaged. However, as soon as one bulb in the strand goes out, the chip fires to life to keep the power flowing and the rest of the string operating properly. The chip even acts as an internal surge protector within the strand to protect the bulbs from irregular electrical pulses caused by other bulbs in the string that may burn out.

"Staylit light strings allow you to spend holiday time with your family, not looking for the bad bulb that's keeping a light string from operating," says Staylit inventor John L. Janning.

The patented Staylit technology even helps make the lights shine brighter than a regular light string, allowing for a more festive holiday display. As a matter of fact, the 38 trees that have lined Rockefeller Plaza in New York City in past years have each been wrapped with two thousand Staylit bulbs. A beautiful twinkling effect can be accomplished by inserting several flashing type bulbs in a Staylit string. When a flashing bulb is placed in the socket of an ordinary light string, the entire string flashes on and off. When placed in a Staylit light string, the individual bulb flashes on and off in a random manner. Several flasher bulbs placed in a string generate a pleasing twinkle effect.

NOMA/Inliten, LLC also offers Staylit Pre-Lighted artificial trees that come with the twinkling effect already built in. The sturdy trees range in size from 4' -25' and allow for effortless set-up and breakdown.

The Staylit product line is sold in the U.S. and Canada at many major retail stores nationwide including Target and BJ's Wholesale. The 100-light strings stretch almost 40 feet and retail for around $7.99. The lighted trees sell for $100 and up depending on tree height.
