HTC Selects SiRFstarIII for Use in First Navigation PDA Phone

Advancing its multiplatform relationship with the world's leading provider of Microsoft(R) Windows Mobile(R) devices, SiRF Technology Holdings, Inc. (Nasdaq: SIRF), a leading provider of GPS-enabled silicon and premium software location platforms, today disclosed that its high-sensitivity SiRFstarIII(TM) is being used in HTC's first GPS-enabled PDA Phone.

Available under the HTC brand as well as in customized versions for operator partners, the HTC P3300 features a single-chip SiRF GSC3 GPS receiver along with SiRF's exclusive SiRFInstantFix(TM) service.

SiRFInstantFix enables the HTC P3300 to achieve the first fix in as little as eight seconds after it is turned on. With SiRFInstantFix, the HTC P3300 can not only start tracking satellites and navigating more quickly, it can do it using much weaker signals, removing the barrier that often stands in the way of successfully navigating under marginal conditions.

The HTC P3300 quad-band GSM navigation smartphone combines SiRFstarIII- powered GPS location capabilities with Microsoft(R) Windows Mobile(R) 5.0. It includes pocket versions of Outlook e-mail, calendar and contacts, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet Explorer and Windows Media Player 10, and even includes an FM stereo radio. Wireless connectivity is provided through GPRS, WiFi and Bluetooth. The HTC P3300 delivers all this in a compact package that measures 108 mm x 58 mm x 16.8 mm, weighing just 130 grams.

Winner of the PC Magazine's 2005 award for Technical Excellence, the SiRFstarIII can track more than 20 GPS satellites, employs the equivalent of more than 200,000 correlators and sophisticated navigation algorithms, and is able to acquire signals down to -159 dBm, making real-time navigation practical in almost any environment. The GCS3 combines a complete GPS digital baseband processor, RF front end and stacked flash in a single, compact, 7-mm x 10-mm package to deliver unmatched time to first fix (TTFF) at the low signal levels.
