General Dynamics Gets $40.8M in Orders and Boeing KC-767 Tanker Advanced Camera System Improves Aerial Refueling Safety10 September 2006
Defense industry news provided by Financial News USA (OTC: FNWU). The U.S. Army has awarded General Dynamics Corp. (NYSE:GD) more than $40 million in delivery orders under a pair of contracts worth a total of about $5 billion. The military contractor picked up a delivery order for $25 million as part of a more than $194 million contract for the mobile gun system vehicle and nuclear biological chemical reconnaissance vehicle test support. Work is expected to be completed by Oct. 31, 2007. The U.S. Joint Forces Command has selected Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC) to continue providing technology support to the Joint Warfighting Center (JWFC) in Suffolk, Va. The initial two-year $218 million contract awarded Friday has a potential value of $686 million over six years, if all options are exercised. The JWFC prepares U.S. armed forces and coalition partners to fight as an integrated "joint force" in current operations and for future contingencies. With two aircraft flying about 50 feet apart at hundreds of miles per hour, aerial refueling, even under the most ideal conditions, is an exacting maneuver. Boeing's (NYSE: BA) KC-767 Tanker recently demonstrated technology that will improve safety for tanker aircrews and the airplanes receiving critical fuel. Using a series of cameras mounted on the tanker's fuselage, the KC-767 Remote Vision System (RVS) provides high-definition stereoscopic imagery to the aircraft's boom operator stationed behind the KC-767 cockpit. David Chin, CEO of U.S. BioDefense, Inc. (OTC BB: UBDE) announced recently the appointment of Charles Wright as the company's Executive Vice President. Charles Wright will assist with the development and expansion of Emergency Disaster Systems' sale team and the overall direction of U.S. BioDefense's business development and marketing efforts. Mr. Charles Wright has over 30 years of marketing and business experience as a successful entrepreneur and has consulted for the City of Palms Springs, Toyota, Kaiser, and organizations such as the American Red Cross.
