FORMOSA TELETEK Announces New Generation of Bluetooth® Headsets3 June 2005
FORMOSA TELETEK, a leading provider of Bluetooth wireless connectivity products for the PC, cellular phone, and automotive accessories, and LTCC components, today announces its new generation of Bluetooth Headset - Sporty. The Sporty headset provides crisp sound, high quality, and extended talk time for wireless and hands-free phone conversations. Lightweight, it is comfortable to wear and adjusts to fit either ear. It also features voice activation functions making it a true hands-free solution. This user friendly solution meets the legal requirements in many countries for hands-free phone conversations when driving.
The Sporty Bluetooth headset takes full advantage of XEMICS’ ultra low power Bluetooth circuits functioning on a single 120 mAh Li-ion cell, providing an extended talk time up to 10 hours. It is fully compliant with the Bluetooth specifications and will work with any Bluetooth enabled mobile phone supporting the headset and/or hands-free profile.

All hands-free profile features are supported and easily accessible thanks to the comfortable Man-Machine-Interface (MMI). For end users’ convenience a three button design was chosen which allows easy access to the volume control and phone answer/end buttons. The flexible chip architecture from XEMICS enables the MMI to be upgraded easily. Both companies worked together on this generation of headsets to take full advantage of the ultra low power capability of the XEMICS chipset. The range of the Bluetooth link is particularly helpful in cars and other transportation systems. An incoming call will ring through to the headset and a simple push will transfer it to the headset. On the other hand, if the cell phone supports voice dialing one will be able to use that feature through the headset, without touching the phone at all.
