Focus Enhancements to Demonstrate High Frequency UWB and Video Convergence Technology at International CES 2007

Wireless streaming video distribution based on the WiMedia UWB Standard

Visitors to the Focus Enhancement booth will be instantly transported into the home entertainment room and office-of-the-future. See how applications for Certified Wireless USB technology will include video camcorders, digital cameras, printers, USB hubs, PDAs, remote media servers and all forms of video distribution in home entertainment.

The company will be showing reference designs used in PMPs and advanced Internet Protocol Set-top Boxes (IP-STBs), developed in partnership with leading platform providers such as Freescale, AMD, Raza, Intel, and nVidia. In addition, the company will be showing recently introduced PMP players from Microsoft (Zune) and Toshiba (GigaBeat) using the company's FS456 TV-out encoders to display video to a TV.

UWB Frequency Bands

WiMedia UWB uses distinct bands (approximately 500 MHz each). Standard UWB implementation uses the first three of these bands (up to approximately 4.8 GHz). Europe prefers using high frequency bands starting at near 6 GHz. Focus UWB, based on the WiMedia Standard, provides coverage up to approximately 7.4 GHz, providing coverage today for both US and European markets.
