Denali's PCI Express Compliance Suite Licensed by Sun Microsystems5 April 2006
Denali Software today announced that its PureSuite(TM) product has been licensed by Sun Microsystems, Inc. for use in the verification of PCI Express* interfaces in Sun's next-generation server chips. Hardware design engineers use PureSuite to exercise their designs with thousands of complex test cases to simulate PCI Express traffic and check for compliance with PCI Express specifications from the PCI-SIG. By using Denali's PureSuite product, Sun engineers can expose potential compliance related design issues early in the development cycle, before designs are implemented in silicon, saving valuable development time and ensuring a higher quality end product. "We are using Denali's PureSpec verification IP extensively in the development of our PCI Express designs, and we are very pleased with the quality and completeness of this product," says Shrenik Mehta, director of Frontend Technologies for ASIC's Processors and OpenSPARC(R) Program at Sun Microsystems. "Ensuring compliance with the PCI Express specification is also a critical task, and we are now seeing value in Denali's PureSuite product for PCI Express compliance verification." "Our goal is to provide industry leaders like Sun with products that speed development of high-quality chips that are compliant with the PCI Express specification, and interoperable with other PCI Express designs," adds David Lin, vice president of Product Marketing at Denali. "With PureSpec and PureSuite, we are bridging a critical gap between the documents from the PCI-SIG that define the specification and describe compliance tests, compliance tests, and the actual implementation of a sophisticated testbench to exercise and verify PCI Express designs according to those standards, and beyond. We are very pleased to be working with Sun and help integrate our product in their verification environment." About Denali PureSuite PureSuite is a comprehensive test suite product, containing thousands of pre-configured tests for exercising specific PCI Express functionality, corner cases, and compliance conditions. PureSuite maps individual tests to all items defined in the Compliance Checklist document from the PCI Special Interest Group (PCI-SIG), and includes more than 4,000 additional tests designed to exercise other specific corner conditions. Each test is designed to cover a specific case, and includes a detailed description of purpose, assumptions, scenario, expected results and where applicable, the corresponding PCI-SIG checklist item number. PureSuite automatically generates sophisticated simulation tests to check for compliance with the specification, and to expose potential corner-case bugs. The ability to configure PureSuite to test for interoperability with specific PCI Express design configurations saves valuable development time for the users. Leveraging Denali's PureSpec verification IP, PureSuite can automatically select and configure individual tests based on the specific PCI Express device configuration for the design under test, and other PCI Express devices in the system. Tests can be driven from the BFM within PureSpec across the PCI Express link toward the design under test, or can be initiated from the application interface of the design under test. PureSuite automatically maintains a cumulative report of compliance results listing the pass/fail status for all tests executed with the design. More than 40 companies use PureSuite to speed design and ensure compliance with the PCI Express specification. For more information, visit: http://www.denali.com/products_purespec.html .
