CompAmerica Enhances DigiMemo with «a Nice Carry Case, New OCR, an Energy Star Guarantee and an API»

18 April 2006

Cranford, NJ (PRWEB) April 17, 2006 -- CompAmerica's DigiMemo (http://www.digi-memo.com), the electronic memo pad. It stores your handwriting, notes and drawings automatically. Insert them into Microsoft Office and other types of Windows Documents and Email. It's a revolutionary product, now available with its own handy carry case: the PF1000 Portfolio.

The handsome new folio case can be ordered separately or with the DigiMemo. PF1000 holds supplies and other things the busy person on the go needs to take with them. Stylish, light weight and well constructed, the PF1000 keeps DigiMemo clean, and safe. Take extra pens, paper and even your other important items.

CompAmerica (http://www.compamerica.com) also announced today a new Handwriting Software package for DigiMemo translation to word processing text. Designed for Microsoft Windows based PCs, this amazing technology supplements previous offerings, designed to be «even more suited to the format of the DigiMemo». Heralded as «achieving unheard of accuracy, approaching 100%», this new PC handwriting reconition software, code named «Gismo» (after the very first optical character recognition system in human history), costs only $34.99 for a user license. This is no requirement to license multiple copies, since one Gismo license on a single PC can process DigiMemos from as many DigiMemo pads as the user or business owns, stated a spokesperson.

CompAmerica followed the announcement with a friendly call for «Application Developers».

Developers interested in leveraging the unique design of DigiMemo, can now interface everything from Cell Phones to Office Automation packages to third party software to the CompAmerica DigiMemo through CompAmerica's «DigiMemo Developers' Universal API» (DDUAPI). The new API provides examplars and data formats for use in interpreting DigiMemo datastreams, so programmers and hardware developers can connect their products to DigiMemo much as the DigiMemo Manager (software which is bundled FREE with DigiMemo) does. The Universal API reportedly can be tapped into by any USB or Compact Flash Memory Card (DOS format) equipped computing or communicating device or software.

"Electronically recorded handwriting is of keen interest to product developers in communications, and for those offering on the street applications in law enforcement, military, education, maintenance, medicine, construction, energy, industry, transportation and the journalism/writing fields, to name a few. Wherever a clipboard can be used, so can a DigiMemo. PC Keyboards and heavier tablet pcs can be very imposing to cope with in tight spaces or high mobility situations. They are way less portable than a simple 6 by 9 notepad that weighs a pound and can record handwriting for up to 100 hours at a stretch. We believe we've only seen the tip of the iceberg of uses for DigiMemo..." stated Dr. Jack A. Shulman, CompAmerica's Chairperson.

CompAmerica indicated it has certified DigiMemo as «Energy Friendly», pointing to its 100 hour handwriting time per battery cycle and unlimited standby time. DigiMemo also has the ability to draw power for its operation from any USB port to which it is connected. DigiMemo stores multiples of 999 documents at a time (using battery-less plug in Flash Memory cards) using minimal power consumption, and can do so without even drawing power from its internal batteries when connected by USB to a PC. CompAmerica indicated that its power use «equals and/or exceeds all EPA Energy Star requirements for this kind of computing device.» DigiMemo unique design literally generates no heat, emits no fumes, and uses 10% of the battery demand of its nearest competitor, stated the company. This, CompAmerica said, saves money and energy while weighing less and using smaller quantities of consumables such as paper and batteries. "It's remarkably energy efficient!" stated a spokesperson.

CompAmerica, known for its reliable PC products, indicated it has experienced a 0% failure rate and a 0% return rate on DigiMemos since their first model's introduction about a year ago. "One unit was damaged by shipping, out of hundreds of thousands shipped" stated a company spokesperson.

CompAmerica indicated current generation DigiMemo has seen «about sextuple the customer demand» since it was released for holiday buyers in 2005.

DigiMemo 6920 and the Portfolio PF100 can be ordered online at http://www.digi-memo.com .
