Dallas responded in kind with a late equalizer to send the game to penalties. From the spot Dallas was flawless scoring five in a row to advance to the quarter-finals of the Cup.

After a quiet first half Dallas broke the deadlock in stoppage time at the end of the period. The ball was played up to forward Kenny Cooper at the edge of the box. Cooper pulled the ball onto his right foot and drove a shot past goalkeeper Dusty Hudock into the bottom right corner.

Charleston equalized from the penalty spot after Gavin Glinton was felled in the box in the 63rd minute. Defender Clarence Goodson was ejected from the game for the foul. Forward Ben Hollingsworth converted the spot-kick for the Battery.
