ANADIGICS Ships Production Volumes of 3G EV-DO Power Amplifiers to Samsung Electronics for SCH-a87010 September 2006
ANADIGICS, Inc. (Nasdaq: ANAD), a leading supplier of wireless and broadband solutions, announced today that the Company is shipping EV-DO power amplifiers (PAs) to Samsung Electronics for the new SCH-a870 CDMA handset. The SCH-a870 is being offered by the top CDMA wireless service provider in the United States and features a color display, camera with flash, Bluetooth, and speakerphone. The handset also offers VibeTonz, which provides vibrating caller ID alerts that are synchronized with the beats of the ring tones. ANADIGICS' second generation High-Efficiency-at-Low-Power (HELP2(TM)) EV-DO PAs provide world-class efficiency, reducing average current consumption by 50%. These PAs offer industry-leading integration by eliminating the requirements for external voltage regulation, thereby reducing bill of materials cost and PCB space. "We are delighted that Samsung Electronics has selected ANADIGICS' HELP2(TM) CDMA power amplifiers for the SCH-a870 camera phone," said Dr. Bami Bastani, President & CEO of ANADIGICS. "Our differentiating HELP2(TM) technology enables handset manufacturers to design feature rich 3G mobile devices with improved talk-time, that push the envelope in multimedia capabilities. We look forward to working closely with Samsung Electronics on the design of new handsets for the rapidly growing 2.5G and 3G markets." Samsung Electronics' SCH-a870 uses both the AWT6307 and AWT6308 HELP2(TM) PAs for US cellular band and US PCS band operation, respectively. ANADIGICS' HELP2(TM) PAs provide exceptional efficiency and low quiescent current, thereby reducing power consumption and increasing talk-time. The highly integrated 3 mm by 3 mm HELP2(TM) PAs maintain pin-to-pin compatibility with existing 4 mm by 4 mm amplifiers, reducing PCB space requirements by up to 50%. These power amplifier modules are manufactured using a material set consistent with the European Union's Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS).
