Air Products Announces Security Charge for High-Purity Process Chemicals4 October 2005
Air Products (NYSE: APD) today announced that it will implement a security charge for high-purity process chemicals (HPPC), effective November 1, 2005, to help offset costs associated with plant security improvements at Air Products production facilities, a large majority of which are a direct result of U.S. anti-terrorism efforts. An increase of $1.25 per case and $15 per drum will be imposed. The improvements are part of a continuing industry initiative to increase security at chemical facilities and an ongoing effort by Air Products to enhance the overall safety and reliability of supply of its electronics products and services. As part of this effort, Air Products also completed a Security Vulnerability Assessment for all of its electronics manufacturing facilities . a survey that resulted in continuing upgrades for computer monitoring systems, truck design and logistics, and additional plant security measures.
